Junior Secondary is a phase of education in Queensland State Schools for Years 7, 8 and 9.  Junior Secondary is fundamental in ensuring the transition between primary and secondary school is safe, supportive, strong and consistent for all our students to continue on their pathway to success.

At Charters Towers School of Distance Education, we support all students through the provisioning of quality digital learning experiences. This is led by expert teachers and delivered through the online platform QLearn. We believe that through the delivery of the Australian Curriculum adapted to our local context, we can support all students to realise their potential.

All Junior Secondary students participate in a curriculum-based Health and Wellbeing learning program.  This program is designed to support students' identity, community and culture. At the Charters Towers School of Distance Education, we believe Distance is no barrier to Education.

At the Charters Towers School of Distance Education our Junior Secondary curriculum is entirely delivered through QLearn.  This is the Department of Education's online learning platform.  All course material is accessed digitally, including the return of assessments. For our students to reach their full potential and to access our curriculum, requirements to be successful are a computer, webcam, internet and a scanner/ printer. We recommend both students and home tutors have a moderate level of technical ability in using computers and the internet.
