Our primary sector of the school covers the year levels from Preparatory Year through to Year 6.

Preparatory year

Preparatory year is full time and compulsory for all Queensland children. Preparatory year is generally a transition from experiential learning to more formal learning outcomes but remains child-centred. It clearly identifies inquiry-based learning and investigations as key elements.

Parents play an active role in working with their child. Teachers support parents and plan for children's learning using five early learning areas that are linked to the curriculum that is used in primary school year levels. The teacher's planning will respond to children's needs and interest. Teachers will monitor, assess and reflect on children's learning.

Resources for Prep are designed to support active learning. The school has available a resource kit for this year of schooling to assist parents and this may be accessed through the school's resource hire scheme.
