Home tutor seminar
Annually, our school conducts a 5 day training event for
tutors. This is held in the last week of February each year. Please contact our
Parent Liaison Officer for details.
Competitions
Our students are provided with the opportunity to
participate in a number of competitions at a local, state and national level. These
competitions provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills in
a range of key curriculum areas including Mathematics, Science, Technology and
Languages. Students participating in these activities are benchmarked against
students from across the region, state and national arena.
Field services
The provision of field services is an important part of the
operation of our school. These activities aim to provide social contact,
learning support and general access to a range of cultural and educational
experiences for our students. They also provide important opportunities for
teachers to work with the students, assess their progress and evaluate students’
learning programs.
Eligible students are invited to attend a range of field services throughout the year. View our School calendar of events (PDF, 193KB) for details.
Outreach
These are held at geographical central points in the core
catchment area of our school. Current Outreach areas include: Hughenden,
Clermont, Cape River, Ewan and Townsville.
Inreach
At certain times during the year, students are invited to
Charters Towers to participate in a structured learning experience. These activities
are held at the school and are an opportunity to participate in a range of
learning and assessment activities designed to maximize the support available
to our students.
Mini-school
Held at set times during the school year, Mini-schools are
an opportunity for students to come together to participate in a wide range of
curricular and extra-curricular activities under the supervision of the
teaching team.

On an annual basis, Year 6 students enrolled in all Charters Towers state primary schools, have the opportunity to take part in a group trip to Brisbane. This trip takes in a range of high interest cultural, educational and physical activities aimed at providing students with experiences that extend beyond their regional boundaries.
