School song lyrics
Distance is no Barrier
Written and produced by Ron Sellars
We are the kids whose homes are scattered, around this country far and wide.
Our families are from the land, where the dirt roads bend and wind.
There's miles between our school rooms, but to us this is fine,
Because distance is no barrier to advance our willing minds.
Our homes become our classrooms, where the UHF has past.
Thanks to new technology, we learn our lessons fast.
Through internet and school room chats to help us learn and see,
That distance is no barrier to how much we can achieve.
We are proud to be the students of Charters Towers Distance Ed.
With the blue and gold upon our flag, we raise above our head.
And Mr Kookaburra on our badge, by him we're humbly led,
For just like him, our voice stays strong, right across this great big land.
When it's time for inreaches and outreaches again,
Where kids, teachers and parents all become good friends.
We drive through gates, flood,
dust or mud, you know we can't wait,
Because Distance is no Barrier to go and see our mates.
We are proud to be the students of Charters Towers Distance Ed.
With the blue and gold upon our flag, we raise above our head.
And Mr Kookaburra on our badge, by him we're humbly led,
For just like him, our voice stays strong, right across this great big land.
And Mr Kookaburra on our badge, by him we're humbly led.
For just like him, our voice stays strong, right across this great big land.
